Overwatch After PlayNReview

“One of the most anticipated games to come out has arrived and I finally got my hands on my controller to play away!”- CutieRoo

To briefly get it out of the way  Overwatch has been the biggest hush hush by blizzard. The moment everyone learned of this games existence and development, people were bitten with that Blizzard bug all over again and wanting more. This changed things forever… (at least that’s how I see it) because once this game was released it caused a huge rift in the blizzard franchise because this game is brand spanking new from them and everyone wanted their hands on it. A new project that was nowhere near any of the games they had been releasing or focusing on for years (because if it isn’t broke don’t fix it), can you blame people for wanting it.

On the other hand why would Blizzard release something new? I mean WOW, League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone just to name a few were still all popular titles that was bringing in huge amounts of revenue. So why take a risk with Overwatch? A PVP FPS? Because the timing couldn’t have been perfect for it, the gaming community was in need of the next big thing and Blizzard had delivered the holy grail. After that this game has taken everything by storm with its massive popularity, addictive playability, and competitive community this game could not be stopped. That’s why I have fallen to the Overwatch bug myself and have to say I was not disappointed.

I mean, when I got my hands on this game I have been loving every moment of it, even when I lose a match and get salty over it, I still keep on wanting more and keep coming back for it. The match style is in 6v6 matches that you play online, with map styles of Assault, Escort, Control, and Hybrid matches. Furthermore, the maps are all based on real-world locations and each one is styled beautifully. Equally important are the characters you get to choose from, now each of them are somewhat balanced however you will never have the perfect combo of balanced characters because there are a variety of them but also a variety of players and their play styles. Plus, someone will find a way to be op with that character and blizzard does their best to listen to us gamers by giving them nerfs or buffs depending on the character. The characters come in four different varieties in Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support, each one giving you limitless play styles and team combinations. It’s hard to play every character effectively since each one is so different from the last, but makes for a great challenge for yourself and find the ones that work for you.

Firstly, before you can jump into the game you are required to take a training program before even playing the full game, but once you are done (it’s quick and painless) you are able to scoot your butt down in the chair, controller in hand (you are already doing this but playing for realz this time) and start being able to play against others in PVP freestyle or competitive.

Overwatch itself is overall excellent fun. Whether you want to play it by yourself, with friends (highly recommend getting a solid group of friends and make a dominating team).  The style and feel of the game is simple yet immersive like Blizzard does most of their games, you could start playing and lose hours of your life and not even realize it. Additionally, having the idea of acquiring a loot box every time you leveled up was genius, nothing is more satisfying then win matches and earing sweet loot on the side. Moreover, being able to have experience perks (XP) like first win of the day or playing with a friend can get you extra XP, how can you say no to even more experience. Little things like that is helpful to the overall gameplay and is what differs from most PVP FPS games.

It has been shown that Overwatch had the hype before release and became something even more since it has been out to the public, and shows no signs of slowing down in popularity and competitive gameplay. Blizzard continues to evolve the game with updates and free new content such as maps, characters, and of course loot. All their ideas came together beautifully and executed well by the success it has been given, I have loved everything Blizzard has delivered with Overwatch and the masses agree as well. I continue looking forward to what is store for this game as well as what new surprises are coming. If you have yet to give this game a shot, you are indeed missing out on something glorious.
